the HD TV will not be used as a computer monitor - just wondering, if i got a HDTV Tuner Card for My PC.. To get full potential i would need a computer monitor supporting AT LEAST 1920X1080

i also understand that - but since it has 1024 lines (vertical resolution) vs. 1080, will one with say (1600X1400) be as good as a 1920X1080?

An hdtv will be great for watching dvd quality video, but many programs will not look right or work properly with widescreen format, and you will need an expensive video card that will support widescreen high definition. So, if you can afford to, buy an lcd monitor for general computer use, and switch to hdtv for some multimedia.

You are describing a wide screen aspect ratio vs standard aspect ratio. The wide screen is much better for watching movies.
