i'm a final year medical student ...i like to wear sport cloths but my senior doctors started to criticize my style saying that a doctor should look elegant ,classic not sport and they also told me that patients prefer their doctors to look professional,,,is that right??

I prefer a sense of humor overall. I went to see another doctor in the office I go to (mine was out) and was diagnosed with sinusitis once again. I said I wished they made a pill that would just dissolve all the crap in my throat and her reply was they'd be out of business. I appreciated that.

If you notice what doctors are wearing (with their lab coat), most I have seen are classic, simple lines - not too fancy or busy. I would think sporty would figure into that (clean lines and muted colors, right?) Course it could also depend on where you're going to practice and what type of medicine you're practicing.

They aren't going to grade you on this, are they? And you aren't a slob, it doesn't sound like. In the end, you need to be comfortable and so do your patients.
