I agree with one of the other answers that suggests contacting the school. As a primary school teacher this is pathetic - banning football at our school causes more agro and fights than the injuries caused by playing the game. Sensible precautions of course should be taken if space is limited, for example a soft /small ball or limited numbers to the game.
Football on the playground promotes social skills as well as excellent exercise opportunities. It also promotes good cross year group cooperation.
I would definitely contact the school, get up an action group!
Power to the people with common sense!

This is madness - ask the school on what grounds football was banned and whether they have carried out a risk assessment.
It could be that unsupervised football (ie before the start of the school day) has resulted in accidents because of unruly play - and the school is using Health and Safety legislation as a convenient way of banning the activity. Do challenge this ruling by the school as it is erroneous decisions like this that gives Health and Safety such a bad name!

I think people worry too much nowadays about their children getting the slightest knocks and bruises. I think it is a shame that a school feels that it is unsafe for them to play football unless it is for some reason like the sports ground needs fisxing. In which case I can understand a temporary ban while facilities are fixed.

We're on the verge of raising a generation of sissies...
Primary grades should be allowed to play football, you learn so much about being on a team and hard work. Some people are so afraid of a little injury....that's what safety measures are for and what conditioning is all about.

football, and all sport, PROMOTES health and safety if you ask me. sure kids will get hurt but in the long run little things like that will make them stronger. stupid world. next we'll be hearing they'll ban re just in case it upsets other religions!

omg ! people moan about kids being obese and then go and stop them taking part in a form of exercise. Contradictory or what? They should just let the kids have fun and play football if your really bothered by this then write a letter to the head or phone them up n let them know im sure other parents will feel the same as you.

No, and it's a shame that the school discourages a form of exercise. I mean what are theses kids going to do now, just hang out in the halls.

thats nuts, the world is going mad. Football is one of the last outposts still standing against these mad people, it's outrageous. I cannot imagine my childhood without a football. We all fell over and got hurt and we would be playing again the next day.
