I wipe up the excess liquid or whatever with papertowels, then when the burners cool down I take them off and use some soft scrub and a scrubbie to get it clean then rinse with a wet rag and dry with more papertowels or a dish towel. I have boil overs often!

If you have a gas cooker then cleaning is a bit difficult.I used new sponges to avoid marks and paint damage.
