when does a car need a water pump, and if i smell the antifreeze inside the car when i do drive, does that mean i need a heater core replaced, but the heat works fine and so does the air. no leaks, no smoke, antifreeze not mixing with oil and car runs great with plenty of power before it runs hot! i have to put water in it everyday and can smell antifreeze in car while and after driving it...water not leaking from tailpipe and no heavy smoke from tailpipe either...whats left? when or could it need a water pump and when does a car need a water pump or/and heater core and do u think this will solve the problem? car is consistenly running hot with no leaks and draining water and antifreeze without leaking but can smell it in the car.....does this car need a water pump and why and a heater core and why and do u think this will solve the problem?

if you have to fill it everyday and can smell antifreeze in the cab, you def. have a leak in the heater core. It could be just the smallest of pin hole leaks, but it's leaking.

Or, you could have a blockage/leak in one of the passage ways in the block causing the water to burn up. If there is no flow, you will overheat.

the heater core is probobly the problem, if your smelling it inside of the car then it is the heater core it is probobly running down the back side of the carpet so it isn't as noticable but if you are putting that much water and or antifreeze in it then you are going to notice it on the carpet soon enough if you don't take care of it you will also ruin the head on the motor.

Radiators eventually plug up, even if you use antifreeze and distilled water. Some sort of crusty stuff builds up on the ends of the internal tubes, restricting flow. Probably, you need to replace it.

probably have a cracked block. liquid is going out the tailpipe. does it have white exhaust at situations? if so it is burning water and antifreeze. if no cracked block then a blown head gasket between 2 cylinders. seem for fluid interior the oil for cracked block. white exhaust for blown head gasket.
