It isn't hard to do some quick sums. (eg £5 a week X 52 weeks.)
Only the greedy & gullible do it now. I gave it up ages ago , when I was only getting the odd tenner every 6 months. Financially , it just doesn't pay for itself , think about it??. It's on par with the 'donkeys' at Redcar. People will always be disappointed in the end , that's human nature , to go on a high , just to crash again.

I must say I'm disappointed with the payout system - 3 numbers for a measly tenner is robbery and to have to get 5 to get a four figure payout (if you're lucky!) - they should all wear masks and ride horses!
Much better to get £10 for 1 number, (at least) £100 for 2, (at least) £1000 for 3 ... and for the jackpot to be a guaranteed £5 million each draw - with it shared amongst those with 5 and the bonus if there's no outright winners!!

Ye, but there's always a chance of winning big m oney, so people keep playing. It's nice to have a gamble every now and then anyway. Also, some of the money the National Lottery raises goes to good causes, that's a positive thing.

I do a lucky dip every now and then. However, the people that do the same numbers week in week out, must feel compelled to carry on doing it. Also a lot of low income people do it, so not good for them to pay all this dosh out each month. Thing I dont understand is why 90 years olds do it, I see loads each week queuing up for tickets, maybe its for their old peoples home!

I would have said the same thing less than a year ago , we were piss pore no money, working 6 days a week to support our young children and getting nowhere. Then we won our lives changed forever. I personally would love every person to have a win like ours . So keep playing it does happen to normal people. good luck

yes and no really.
you have gotta be in it to win it.
i usually end up spending my money on quick fix items like clothes to make me happy, and a few days later the item isn't new anymore and i feel cheated! so the odd £1 here and there won't bother me as there's always a "very slight" possibility that i "might" win.
But why is it that the numbers we choose "always" look like the winning numbers ??

It's just another way for the government to tax poor people. Lets face it, if your wealthy you probably won't play, but poor people are just hoping that maybe their numbers will come up, even though the odds are so minute.

Has been for me but if you ask the few chosen ones that have actually won on it they would obviously say no.
