We are having a discussion in the office. If a woman has both ovaries and no uterus can she still technically get pregnant? If so, where would the baby go - stomach? Thanks

I guess technically you could get pregnant but would hav eno way of sustaining it without a uterus.

Technically, yes, even a man could get pregnant with ovaries (I know, weird, but some do have both sets of devices). The problem is that the pregnancy could not be sustained without the correct conditions and hormones that a uterus provides.
I read an article years ago in some Sunday Newspaper Magazine insert about the possibilities of men being childbearers, it's technically possible, but they would have to have a C-section delivery (d'ya think?!)
Look at the Arnold Schwarzenneger movie, I think it was called "Junior" from years ago.
Anyway, if men had to be pregnant, we know the human race would cease to exist very quickly, they couldn't handle it.

If you do not have a uterus, you cannot become pregnant or carry a pregnancy. There would not be any conduit for the sperm to meet the egg. HOwever, if you have ovaries, you can, indeed, produce eggs and ovulate, but no sperm can get near the egg in order to make you pregnant. You can, however, have these eggs removed and in-vitro fertilization can be dne, after which the fertilized egg can be reimplanted into another woman (with a uterus) and she can carry your baby to term.

There are situations where an egg can be fertilized and implant in places other than the uterus (tubes, abdominal walls, etc), but it is considered an ectopic pregnancy. There are no other parts of the body that are built for sustaining a pregnancy. I have heard of a set of fraternal twins where both were implanted on the uterine wall, but one was implanted outside the uterus. They both survived, but that is so very rare.

My grandmother's baby got stuck in the fallopean tube (this was when she was 35!), so yes, you can get pregnant. However, it nearly killed her, and the baby died.

Although, if you didn't have a uterus, it is unlikely that you would ovulate.

If you did ovulate, and the egg got stuck in the fallopian tube, but still met a sperm, you would become pregnant, but the baby would run out of space and die.

It would NOT go to the stomach. This is much further up, and in no way linked to the ovaries!

Nope, the uterus is the "main thing". You can get pregnant with a uterus and no ovaries by in-vitro with a donated egg.

Wow.

Unbelievable that you think a baby could live in your stomach.

Your stomach is where the food that you swallow goes to be digested. As it is digested, it works its way through your digestive tract (intestines, etc). If you ate a baby, it would go in your stomach.

If you don't have a uterus, you can't have a baby.

No, you cant get pregnant if you dont have a uterus. That is where the egg implants and grows so if you dont have one, then you cant have a baby.

Only one time I have heard of a baby that was born when it was attached to the mothers Kidney and formed. It happened in Sweden in 2003.
