I hope the formula you are using still has iron in it. That is very important.
Try Nestle Alsoy, my daughter has an intolerance to cows milk/proteins and used to spit up all the time. We tried a few different Soy based formulas, and we found that this one reduced her spit up and she has been on it now for 2 1/2 months.
cereal in a bottle for reflux issues is ok..not great but fine. That little amount shouldnt cause any problems and I have heard that it can resolve spitting up issues because its heavier.
If you are already doing it at night I dont see what the difference would be during the day.
Although, if it is a reflux problem, she may need actual medication to fix this problem.

The Enfamil AR is truly a miracle worker! It won't be a 100% cure, but it cut Jason's spitting up by about 3/4s. I also found that the Gerber brand bottles helped with air intake. You can also try the Playtex disposables with the collapseable liners. The AR also didn't cause constipation like the rice cereal did. Good luck!

my son is just over 2 months old, and he went through the same thing, projectile puking everywhere. Once in a while he still will, but it's only if he coughs, then it all comes up. Newborn stomachs are not used to formula so it takes a little bit for them to adjust to it. Some babies do fine right off the bat, while others have problems for a little while. Your baby will grow out of it. As for the cereal, I did that for my older son at night so he would sleep better, but only for a little while because he was a really good sleeper. I have done it once or twice for my new one. Just only add a little bit, and take a pin and make the hole in the nipple a little bigger. Good luck and don't worry too much, your baby will grow out of it.

I have a 2 month old with reflux. She is on NeoSure formula (with iron) and breastmilk. Per every 2 oz of formula/milk that she gets, she gets 1 tsp of cerial. This will help it thicken up some and stay down because her asofogus (sp) is not fully formed yet. Before she came home from the Dr. they told me to lay her on her tummy to sleep at a slight incline to keep the food down.
After we started doing this, we noticed fewer wet burps. I was told this was ok by our ped and the ER Dr. (well it was started when she was still in the hospital)
This also helped eleminate a lot of gas she was having. You might also want to see about having her sit up for about 30 min after each feeding... This helped a lot too.
Good Luck :)

With my son he had acid reflux and had the spitting up that came out like a fountain. His doctor put him on prevacid and his we used a tablespoon of cereal per ounce of formula. It really made a difference with his spitting up. I dont know why your doctor would say u didnt hear it from her..lol..it dsnt hurt them. My son was only a few weeks old when he started getting cereal in his and hes a healthy 14 mth old now. It went away by the time he was 6 mths of age.

My pediatrcian recommended cereal in my son's bottle because formula didn't fill him up. he woke every hour to eat. He sleeps better now. Some babies have a tendency to spit up. It could be the formula or a sour stomach. My nephew had an exposed nerve at the back of his throat which caused his vomiting when something came in cotact with it.

My daughter did the same thing when she was ready to start getting real food...and she was only 2 months when we started giving her cereal in her bottle. We decided she had been drinking too much from the bottle trying to get full and that's why she threw up. It stopped immediately after we started her on cereal. It does NOT make a child lazy or fat! Both my kids started getting cereal in their bottle at 2 months and were on to baby food by 3 months and both had their bottle taken away at 11 months. Both of them are tall and thin...but they like to eat!

My daughter is now 3 months old. She has been diagnosed with GERD (severe acid reflux)> She has been getting thickened cereal with every feed to stop the spitting she does. Which is very much. Alot less scince she started getting 1 tsp of cereal to every ounce of formula. She takes it very well. They say not to but as long as you feel comfortable thatn go for it. I did it with all my children. To thicken the formula helped them from spitting up so much. Check to make sure your doctor is ok with it. Just to be safe.

You never said how old your daughter was. Usually cereal is givin when the baby is ready for solids usually between 4 to 6 months. I've never known anyone to give cereal because a baby spits up. She could have a sensitive tummy and cereal could actually aggrevate this if given too early. And remember some babies just spit up more then others.
However she is YOUR baby. You do what you feel is best for her.
