Yes!!! I am a diehard fan as well and would love to form a group or join a group here on yahoo that would allow me to chat with folks on raceday or attend the races...aint goin' by myself. But yeah, get strange looks all the time and I'm sick of it. I like football as well and some basket ball. I can't limit myself to just one sport. I'm the only female in my family who even thought about pursuing a career in sports writing/reporting. I still do get the looks for nascar-loving though. Past caring myself. But I still would like for people to stop stereotyping it. Especially as a sport with unintelligent drivers and fans.

I'm African-American and a female and I LOVEEEEE Nascar! I do get strange looks from people when I tell them that I am a diehard Nascar fan, but I go about my way and ignore them. My mom is also a Nascar fan as she is a Jeff Gordon fan...I'm a diehard Dale Jr fan myself as he is the BEST...EVER!
It's fans like us who are making the Nascar stereotype go out the window. We need more fans like us to make the close-minded people open their eyes and see that anybody can be a fan of whatever they chose. There is no law saying that you have to be limited in your favorites category...and if there is then they need to come and arrest me because I will never stop being a Nascar fan.
As for the flying of the Rebel Flag, I don't pay attention to that. If they wanna fly the Rebel Flag...let them as that is their choice. As long as some of them don't come anywhere near me yelling racial statements and things of that nature then knock yourself out and fly your flag. We can wave whatever flag we want.
Close-minded, ignorant people are always going to be around no matter what. Stereotypes will always be here no matter what we do. So just ignore those and go about your business. Don't be ashamed to like what you like!
You don't have to go with a group of other black people to the races, just protect yourself. You might be surprised to find out that the people at the races are just like you..they come from all different races, backgrounds, cultures, etc. A lot of them are very friendly and will help you out.

"Beej" is rather ideal. The tracks would be those in charge for retaining the drivers on the music and the followers in the stands. in assessment to baseball, basketball and different spectator activities, NASCAR does not very own the stadium or racetrack. yet NASCAR can placed rigidity on the proprietors of the music to do the desirable element or they are in a position to p.c. to no longer return there sooner or later. i'm useful the contracts that are signed have some style of decide-out clause for those circumstances. we are in a position to additionally do our section by no longer putting up with undesirable habit on the music as quickly as we attend races. bypass to hint protection and document the undesirable people who make attending some wearing activities un-relaxing. those activities could be exciting for each guy or woman, tremendously the babies and youngsters. bypass Jeff!!!! yet another acceptable 5 end!

I'm white, but I have all kinds of people over at my house to watch NASCAR (in NYC, yet!) every weekend. Three are black, two are mixed.
I get some of those reactions 'cause I'm openly bi and with another woman.
Stereotypes suck, don't they? Especially when they come from within your own group.

I am a huge nascar fan. every time the race is on we have a nasar party. every one has there favorite driver, We cheer, cuss. hoot and holler. its great and a lot of fun. The invitation is based on Nascar fans and having fun. not on race, (you know what i mean) age, sex etc. Keep looking to find a better group of Nascar fans i know there is more of us out there. Have a lot of fun with it and ignore ignorant people. its there for you to enjoy too.

i have a couple of good friends who are black and are diehard NASCAR fans. and as far as staying in a group when at a race, i don't buy it. although they are still pretty few and far between, i've seen and talked to many black fans at races and believe me, they are perfectly safe and welcome there. does that mean that that are no racist idiots there? of course not, there are racist idiots everywhere. but you're talking about MAYBE 1%, probably less, who would have a problem with black fans at a race.

There are a few. Please stick with a group when going to the races. I dont know how safe it is for you to be out there. I knew one black lady that loved racing (her husband was a white country boy from SC).
Stereotypes are not going anywhere. It's ok to like what you want, trust me, we really dont care. HOWEVER, you know we love to talk & gossip, that will never change.

Why do you need to have fellow black fans, cant you just be yourself and enjoy it as the sporting spectacle it is. Fans of sport needn't be of any specific colour. If you are so insular that you feel you need other black fans with you, i feel sorry for you.
Be yourself man !
