Sounds like something is overheating. Is the fan spinning on your cpu/graphics card?

I had one that did that and it was because it was getting too hot. I had upgraded my motherboard and processor, but used my same old fan. The fan was not rated high enough for my processor. This may not be the case with your computer, but still, it is likely that heat is an issue. You might have a diagnostics program that tells you what your cpu temperature is. Check it if you do. Otherwise, try to find a way to get more air to your machine, like make sure the fans are working, not clogged, etc.

You will want to look at what programs start automatically when you start your computer. There is likely something there that is causing this problem.

Download and install CCleaner: http://ccleaner.com
Run CCleaner
Click "Tools" on the left.
Click "Startup"
Review each item listed to see what could be causing the problem.

Most items listed are able to be removed without causing problems. However, it is recommended you use caution when deleting startup items.
