we do whatever we have to for personal gain. Gotta please yourself sometimes and be selfish

when u dig past all the surface answers ie to make someone feel better or many times worse, the base of a mis-truth is to protect your own sense of self. whether u want someone to like you, dislike you, or you could give a rip (ie a telephone survey) you want to walk away from any situation feeling you are in control and therefore intact. many times the reason for a mistruth is as simple as you don't know how to say a truth.
so how do you prevent a lie, that is if that's a second part of the question... 1.don't say anything...murmur noises, 2. learn how - figure out what is it for you that makes you uncomfortable enough that you need a mistruth to begin with 3. a lie need not be a bad thing but this one is tricky.

i have lied 2 my best friend 2 so dont think ur the only 1, and rly i havent thought ab y i did it till now but i done it bc i thought i would hurt her! or i was ashamed of what i did or said and i rly didnt want her 2 know bc i wanted 2 4get myself so i lied ab it! she still dont know 2 this day and she is right beside me! lol but i dont think i could hurt her and mayb thats y u lied and other ppl lie 2 there(ur) best friend!

Sometimes friends do not wish to hurt each others feelings. Is that really being a friend, though? If you have done something that your friend would be hurt by, are you really a friend?

my best friend hurt me very much a few months, it felf really bad. I am still trying to get myself back togher, there is no excuse for hurting someone, or lieing to someone. Dont play with other people lifes.

Because we think that lying to them will make everything ok. But what we don't realize sometimes is that we are hurting their feelings. Because sooner or later the truth is going to come out and that's when we usually forget.
