this is rather a simplistic statement and does not take into account many factors, not the least of which is that the IRA was not a governmental, but a paramilitary operation, (yes, i do know they have a political wing, i am here only referring to the paramilitary wing)
and at no time in history have the oppressed irish had access to the military personnel or military hardware, or the money, that the americans have had.
i do not agree with what the americans are doing, but i also think that the tendency is, that if you have the toys, eventually you will find a way to use them. if you don't have them, well, you can't.

Ever hear of the Great Depression? Dust Bowl? Civil war? Civil rights movement? Pearl Harbor? You don't consider that hardship?

No question the Irish as a nation have had hardship, but they were not the only ones. And if I recall when push came to shove, the Irish did some blowing up of things themselves. I am not condeming but your logic is broken.
