If it is registered land, you can get a copy of the Land Registration details which will tell you if there is a mortgage. However, you have to pay for this service. I do not think you can get this info for free!

The easiest, free of charge way to find out if a property has a mortgage or liens on it is to go to the county courthouse to the prothonataries office. My county's courthouse has every property's information on a computer...you just type in the address or the homeowner's name and it will give you that information.

I'm not aware of a free service - sorry

This information is open to the public, however a small fee is charged. Your local land registry will contain all the relevant information. You can also engage the services of a title searching company, again for a fee (which will be more than a Land Reg search)

If you go to a title company and give them the address, they might find out for you.
