Does anyone know of an official source of finding where Americans statistically go on holiday? Anyone know?

well we don't go on holiday we go on vacation (LOL!!). And no there isn't any "one" place we all flock to. It depends on what you are interested in. Some got the US Virgin Islands if they want sand and sun, Hawaii, Mexico, Jamaica, Puerto Rico for the same. For nature buffs they might go to Main, Vermont, New Hampshire or take and Alaskan Cruise. To party Vegas, New York (my home town). Family getaways, Virginia Beach, Mertle Beach, Disney World/or Land, or to visit family wherever they are located. One thing you can't do is really track where Americans go to Vacation.

Wow. The statistic part is what's getting me because I decided to try to figure this out.
Thing is, every state has their own thing going - Department of Tourism and the like. And sure, you can make a guess, saying the beach or DisneyWorld. But the actual concrete info, I'm not real sure. I did find a website that could help - Firstgov. Department of Commerce might have some info (it's on the site as well.)

Sorry, I know of no site but I can tell you where I go!
We don't really call it "holiday" but "vacation".....for me it varies but most of the time I go to the smoky mountains! But I have also been to Europe (France, Switzerland, and Italy), to the ocean, and to other places like Beluxe MS which is sort of like Las Vegas with allot of gambling.
But again, it varies.....not all Americans go to the same place like for example the Italians....I know not all Italians go to the same place either but according to my Italian friend most of them go to the ocean.

Maybe you could try AAA (American Automobie Association). They should have info on all kinds of travel. My guess would be all over the US, the Carribbean and Mexico predominantly.
