Remember your blessings instead of dwelling on your troubles!
Good health
People you love are with you and healthy
you have a home
food to eat
you have a job
play with your sweet loving dog
etc. - these are the things to be thankful for - because there are so many terrible happenings in the world - there are people that would love to have your life! I try to remember this.
(Don't get me wrong - I have experienced difficult, painful events in my life - but even then I try to count may blessing!):)

Even when I look only on the bright side of life, I am not able to get out of my mind the fact that there is a darker side attached to almost all things - I feel involved somehow. I am therefore feeling quite averted towards all this dividing up of human observation into brighter and darker sides. I know that one should be and can be optimistic but can one not then be unrealistic. I know that there are situations in life where one need to be very realistic, where one needs to be able to grasp realistic aspects of a situation accurately, where simply becoming an optimist would not help. I believe this is an ability to have window open to the brighter side of things but this is not actual life. The actual life is realistic.
I personally would like to raise myself above the place where thoughts flow rapidly and torrentially. I would like to watch thoughts of all nature to flow past me like a rive flowing in front. And then I like every now and then to pick a thought or two to think them thought. To me the brighter side is my self – my essential self. If I am myself then all is well; then I can deal with both brighter and darker aspects, no problem.

Try to concentrate on the good things. Also, I think if you watch nature that has a calming feeling. A,ways remember there are people that will be worse off then yourself. Surround yourself with friends and another trick is to get drunk every so often! Sometimes I wake up and think life is ****, but then I just look out of the window, hear the birds singing and feel grateful I am alive.

No. Always looking on the bright side ignores the dichotomy of life, and blinds oneself to reality. Homeostatic thinking disavows sorrow, unpleasantness, guilt and remorse by disregarding the ever present fabric of humanity and the infinite chaos of the universe as a whole.

hey , there's alway a bright side and a dark side . you can always see better in the light.
if whenever you're not happy then you're unhappy then things are bad most of the time and that's sad.
but if whenever you're not unhappy , you're happy then things are always looking up.it's how you look at things that colour your world. yeap, i tend to look on the bright side of stuff.
if you're gotta suffer, then you might as well enljoy it.
if life gives you lemons, then make lemonade.
even in death there's a plus- no more suffering, no more bills.

Well the truth is above and beneath everything - whether the bright side or the dark side - both sides together make life.

Oh, the life always seems bright.. whichever way it is looked at..
May be it is just a result of understanding the inevitability of cause and effect, and a deep acceptance of natural course of events !

If you ever visit a Children's Burn Unit in a hospital and see how happy some of those kids are, it will make you more thankful for what you've got! I always leave there with a heartful of hope & a lot of hidden tears!
