If you had to vacuum pack something, would it still emit smells to the outside world?

They are molecules that are evaporating from the surface of the object in question. This means that since you can smell a piece of iron that even iron evaporates! Just smell it and you have proof of that fact!

yes they are and the plastic will keep the molecules from excapeing,
