I may be dumb, but, I am not Stupid! Ha!
I just feel everyone is smart in their own way and capable of learning things they enjoy. Just because a person not know what I do, does not make them stupid. So, I guess my answer to your question is; "The word has produced for me a better understanding of true intelligence in people, an intelligence we all have and use according to our own interests in life".

Usually when I have heard 'stupid' used it has been as an insult, not as a direct observation. If someone does not like or agree with something it is then 'Stupid".
Given that, being called 'stupid' wouldn't bother me as much as if I were called 'ignorant'. There is not slang for 'ignorant', is just is what it is.
