Put it in the garage and coat it in diesel fuel from your car, or fuel from your oil tank if you have oil CH
Bring it into the house a week later. Make sure it is wired in a 3 core cable, old regulations didn't need to have 3 core cable

You can purchase solutions for wood from B&Q etc that will kill it for you and treat it at the same time.

Ok, what you have to do is soak it in liquid paraffin, or brush the liquid paraffin onto it. Allow it to dry out. That will do it.

if you bang it and fresh sawdust falls out of holes there still munching. but most diy places sell a a kind of spray which will easily kill them.
