I understand where Republicans are coming from and what they want to do but can find no clue on what the general status is on what Democrats have as a plan of action. I'm not concerned with which party I'll vote for, just the best people with good ideas and cohesiveness on fixing the problems such as the war, economy, immigration, etc.

The Democrtatic Plan: First Things First...
1) Secure our Borders-- devise a plan to give some of the illegals citizenship based on length of stay, commitment , learning the language and other variables...

2) War in Iraq--Not Cut and Run... and Not stay the course....Phase troops out based on private timeline known only to CENTCOM and redistribute 50% of those withdrawals to Afghanistan and find the real terrorist that attacked us...

3) Oil Independence- The President of the Free world needs to declare within 10 years we will be independant from foreign oil...(president Kennedy said in 10 years we will go to the moon and we did) ..surely we use alternantive energy to make ourselves indepdant from Arab oil...We have the greatest scientists in the world....

4) Use war only when necessary: Both parties have drug our country into needless wars, Dems with Vietnam and Republicans with Iraq....Afghanistan war necessary ..Iraq war not necessary......That is where I think the Democrats can win this election ...If not the Dems I think these are the most important issues any party should address..Ofcourse thera are more...these just top my list as a good place to start...Lennon

You should vote to who is speaking to you on the issues and if you agree with what they are saying. Whatever you local senate or Representative race is, look up on the democrat candidates' website and see where they stand on the issues. You should do this also with your Republican candidates because you might know the party platform but you might not know that candidate's personal views are. Then make up your mind on who to vote for. You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders and can make up your own mind on who you want. Just do a little research.

If you want to know were the candidates in your area stand for Investigate them. They all have web sites that point out there views, if they are members of congress, you can find out how they voted. keep in mind though, sometimes they vote no on something not because of the entire issue but rather vote no, do to a particular part of the law. Which doesn't mean that they are against the whole picture. also go to your newspapers, know newspapers tend to lean a particular way, but they still Have info. if the candidates have debated, you can either watch the debate or go to the TV station to find out what they said. I wouldn't listen just t people to make your decision. I would get the facts then decide.
I hope more people go out and vote.

Vote Libertarian. The Democrats don't have a plan other than getting back in control of things at any cost.

What plan do Americans have to fix those problems? What is the "plan" of Protestants, Catholics, Jews, Whites, Blacks, Hispanics? Clearly you would respond that each of those groups which consist of millions of people don't have a single unified "plan" to solve all of those problems. It makes no sense to expect that "Democrats" would all agree and speak with one voice on a "plan". Nor would it make sense to expect that Republicans would.
