Yes, my former boss's mother went to 1 or 2 sessions with a hypnotherapist and quit. She had smoked for over 20 years and hasn't smoked since under going hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy is a way to curb the cravings in some people, but it rarely eliminates a problem entirely. That's because hypnotherapy only works on people who really want it to work. Sound like a paradox? It sort of is. But psychologists agree that no one can be hypnotised against their will, unless drugged beyond their ability to give consent.

So, you must already be committed to cessation of smoking before you even enter hypnotherapy, and that certainly will not alleviate all of the physical symptoms of the addiction.

And, let's face it: it is a physical addiction. Nicotine acts on the brain's neurotransmitters, as well as other organs. That's why there has been more clinical evidence to suggest that antidepressents like Wellbutrin do have a significant effect on cravings to smoke.

I would never advocate one type of therapy over another. I would simply suggest that you evalulate where you are in the process of quitting smoking, and that you be really honest with yourself about why you smoke and what will tempt you the most to stop. Then you can better identify the right course for you.

No, you stop the smoking, but hypnotherapy when done by competent hypnotherapists is effective in helping you create a totally different idea what smoking means to you. It can also help to greatly lesen the withdrawal effects of the nicotine. But please check out the hypnotists claim before hand and if possible get testimonies from other clients.

I dont think so. Nothing helps except your will. One should have the will power to quit smoking and stick to the decision.
Divert your mind when the urge to smoke comes. Will power is the best way to stop smoking.
good luck,

Use subliminal music. There is scientific proof that it works and it is only a few dollars if you look in the right places. Check out my source link. I am using some of these programs myself and they help me to relax and reprogram my mind. There are day and night tracks so you can train your mind 24/7 with the subliminal music programs.

I am going to try it in a couple of weeks. I asked my hypnotherapist if she would could suggest leaving ice cream out of my diet, and if that works next week, we will move on to quit smoking. I think it will work. My therapist says I am a very good candidate for hypnotism.

Yes it can. The more willing the better though. Doesn't mean they can't help you quit if you aren't willing though. It would just take a few more sessions.
