Almost everyone that I know personally (Shreveport) is a funtional drug addict. I am not glorifying it, but there really are SO MANY!! I know a bank manager that is adicted to Oxycontin, I know a registered nurse that smokes like Snoop Dogg. I know a construction foreman that is addicted to Xanex. The list goes on and on. I dispatch 18 wheelers and I smoke before work and at lunch. All of these people are well dressed and well rounded and they hide their addictions to anyone in their "day" lives. My question is, do you know a lot of people like this or are you even aware of how many young, college grads, are on serious drugs?

I have an idea. I personally know a lawyer, a VP of Sales, many IT directors/VP's, quite a few accountants and teachers. Nearly everyone I know that covertly does drugs, works very hard, never calls in sick and if you didn't know their private life, you could never tell that they did it.

I just wish we could all come out of the closet and vote the morons that keep the population scared of drug users would vote.

Now that's a pipe dream.

Alot of people struggle with drug dependence. If people really knew the extent and type of drug addiction out there, and just where it is to be found, I think they'd certainly be shocked.

For example, I worked at a homeless shelter a few years ago. Many of the upper management were self-avowed Socialists who insisted that heroin addiction is absolutely no different than cigarette addiction, and it should be treated the same. As an example, they told me of someone they knew who was employed as a city bus driver and addicted to heroin. She apparently got her methadone fix every day before going to work driving a bus, and had done so for years. According to them, I was expressing a very discriminatory attitude when I suggested that flunking a drug test should get anyone fired from such a job. After that, I was no longer surprised when I heard of a bus driver here and there accidentally running over people when getting on and off the buses in my area (even school buses).

I certainly acknowledge that Meth is a much more stable addiction than heroin, and it can be a useful tool for becoming unaddicted entirely, but still it's a sad way to live. And it's sadder still when misguided people who should know better, try to normalize the addiction entirely.

I could go on and on with other examples, but I won't. It's too depressing.

We should be committed to helping people become free from their addictions, rather than assisting them in staying addicted. Addicted people are under the control of people and groups who control their supply...in this case, the government, and it's non-profit designates. That's no way to live in a free society.

Hoping the best for you...

Yup, but as long as they are functioning and not hurting anyone, and also are contributing to society we won't make a fuss, but the moment they become dangerous we will have a problem with them especially if they don't seek help.
