The moon is always in its orbit around the earth, and an astronaut can land on it regardless of what time it is on earth. In fact, even if it's daytime where you live, it's nighttime somewhere else on earth. For the astronaut on a space flight there really is no day or night; the space crew just decides when they want to be awake and when they will sleep, since the sun is not rising and setting for them each 24 hours the way it does for us on earth.

You should also understand that the moon is in the sky as much during daylight hours as during nighttime hours. It rises about one hour later each day, so if you see it setting in the early evening, you can figure that about two weeks later, it will be setting in the early morning. The reason we tend to think of the moon as being a nighttime object is that it is more obvious in the nighttime sky. In the daytime sky, we hardly notice the moon for two reasons. One is that it is not nearly as bright as the sun, and not much brighter than the blueness of the sky itself.

The other reason we don't notice the moon during the day is that, on average, it isn't as large as a nighttime moon. When the sun is up during the day and the sun is shining on it, much of the sun's light hits the back side of the moon, and not as much of the front side of it is lit up. So there is less moon for us to see during the day. At night, the moon we see is closer to being "full" (completely lit up on the near side) than when we see it during the day. So it is much brighter and easier to see.

And just where do you think it goes to ? And where does the sun go at night ? Do you think God plucks them out of the sky and puts them in a drawer ?
