last is usually ment for a thing that comes in the end 4 example :
"He was the last person who entered in the class."
and the 'previous' is used 4 a thing which is just be4 the present one e.g. "we met in the previous class."
we can also use LAST in place of PREVIOUS -(if it is suitable)

Lady,
There are several ways that the word "last" is used in English.
Examples:
"Last time I saw him was on Friday" means I did not see him after that, that is end of the number of times I saw him.

"Last Friday, I saw him" means I saw him on the Friday before today.

"Previous" on the other hand refers to anything earlier.

In certain cases, the "last" and "previous" may refer to the same case, as well....

the difference is " previous comes BEFORE next and last comes AFTER it" :)
