Being in a similar situation...the problem seems to be that someone sometime decided that they didn't like people who (smoked pot) and convinced others that it would be a greater-good type of deed to make it socially unacceptable - hence, criminalizing it...the problem isn't whether or not you are a productive citizen, but, that "they" think you could be MORE productive (infringing on your individual rights to achieve only as you choose), and since it is illegal, you won't be punished for being unproductive, you'll be punished for breaking the rules...trust me, the biggest sin I had held against me was one of non-disclosure, apparently, people felt they had a right to know that I was a dope fiend even if their relationship with me had been totally acceptable up until I was "outed". Now, of course, I have found dealing with the repercussions of having a socially unacceptable "vice" far worse than not indulging, so I don't. I wasn't a pot smoker, and even I view pot-smoking on the same lines as drinking alcohol, but "they" sure don't and I don't want to be trapped forever having other people monitor me and decide if I am living up to their standards. Do whatever you have to do to stay off the radar.- even if you have to quit. It sounds like you are justifying yourself to counteract criticism, which is ok by me but wherever the chastisement is coming from, those people think they're looking out for your own good and that is your weakness (not to mention those that don't care about your own good and will use your weakness if they have a chance for personal gain).

You better hope that your employer never institutes a drug test policy for current employees, or your job could be toast! And what will you do if you ever decide to change jobs?
Also, some insurance companies require physicals before they will write a policy for you. If you are young, you may not think life insurance is a big deal. However, as you get older, and have kids, spouse, etc, you'll come to realize that it is important.
Lastly, if you ever are in a car accident, and there is any question at all about whether you were impaired, your smoking habit will come out very quickly. What if your car insurance company refuses to pay, because they say that you were driving under the influence or driving while impaired? Can you afford to buy another car out of pocket? Can you afford to pay the medical bills you might incur if your medical insurance takes the same stance? And if someone else in your car is injured or killed, can you afford a lawsuit from them or their estate?
How badly do you need that buzz now?

It's your life, and as long as what you do doesn't get anyone else hurt... It probably wouldn't at all affect my opinion of you. I'm not related to you, so I this is completely objective- if you contribute to society, as you say, and it doesn't affect me, why should I even care? Of course, if I was related to you, or good friends with you, I might urge you to stop for health reasons. To me, it's not ALL that different from alcohol and cigarettes, and those are legal...

I don't think it's possible for a person to reach their full potential if they are smoking pot daily. I think you are addicted and should get help. I'm sure you could offer the world more without it. Aren't you worried about drug testing? In Indiana if you are hurt on the job you are automatically drug tested and if positive you are denied workmans comp.

A co-worker/friend of mine used to smoke daily, it helped him with various things in his life / with his health. I really couldn't care less.
I sit and play computer games 8 hours a day after work. It's probably more harmful to my body than weed - lol.

Yeah, i understand, loopy thought genuine? yet hear me out. human beings ought to be accepted to do in spite of they damn properly please with their bodies, it is none of my company if somebody needs to drink them-self to dying, positioned a bullet by using their suggestions, have huge plastic surgical technique, hurtle them-self alongside a drag-strip, connect the militia or attempt against crocodiles, so why ought to I extremely have a say over in spite of if or not they are able to smoke extremely pot? it is my company while the government needs to arrest our freedoms for the sake of a few votes on the subsequent election. additionally, my neighbour's childrens are dealing, childrens are so amazing.

You can't pick and choose what laws you are going to obey and which you are going to flout. And if you "have" to smoke weed every day, you have a drug problem.
