In some cases women get lighter sentences because there are some things the judge can take into account when handing out sentences such as:
is it their first offence?
was it a premeditated crime?
do they have any dependants?
would a custodial sentence be a better deterrant than a community service order?
with these the questions amongst others the judge can change the sentence as they see fit.

Despite all attempts at equal opportunities the Government and judicial system still acknowledges that women are the weaker sex. They are therefore unable to last as long in custody or a prison sentence. Plus there is also the fact that women can change, whereas a man will always be a man, so is given a longer sentence so that he does not reoffend so quickly.

You need to compare 2 cases that are exactly the same with the only difference being gender, in order to first establish that women get lighter sentences. Then you need to look at the type of crime

Because the courts still believe that women are made of sugar and spice and all things nice and often have home and child responsibilities that would mean that they suffer for their mum's wrong doings. Not exactly fair though. If she didn't think about the effect of the consequences of her actions on her family, why should the court treat her any differently than a man in the same position.

Well, usually kiddy fiddlers, serial killer, serial rapist, rapist/murderers, mutalators etc. tend to be men. These are horrific crimes and very-very-very rarely are committed by women. Things like drug smuggling, shop lifting, assault are lighter crimes and I'm sure women receive the same amount of sentencing as men would do for the same thing. Ah, yes, and drink driving tends to be another blokish thing to do too (but sadly, for those offences a lot of the times people get off scott free even if they killed a person).

The average sentence is probably less for women because the judge is considering a culprit who is less violent & is the main child carer.

I totally disagree with that. I know men and women who are in jail for the same crimes and the woman is being held longer than the men i know.

I'm not really sure. I am a woman and must admit that we are heavily favored among law enforcement and basically everywhere. I'm sorry that its this way but maybe if you get some implants and strap on a wig you may get the attention and courtesy that we do.

When committing what crimes?
Certain crimes are committed almost solely by men, or at least the % of women committing them is so small it barely registers.
I would like to know what your source is. It would appear this is merely your opinion and therefore statistically unsound. Not to mention offensive and sexist

Because they are generally perceived as being more vulnerable and easier to victimise. Therefore they are viewed as requiring more protection - even from the harshness of the law
