If u use conc.Acid

(Metal)* + (H2SO4)^ = (Metal)^ (SO4 )*+ H2

^ Valence of H2SO4 & * Metal valence

example: Sodium; symbol - Na (metal)

2Na + H2SO4 = Na2SO4 + H2

If dil.

Diluted H2s04 has no effect on metal

(Metal) + H2SO4 = (Metal)SO4 + H2

example: Sodium; symbol - Na (metal)

Na + H2SO4 = Na2SO4 + H2

note: Valence of the compound or element is a factor

relies upon on the form of acid ... no longer all acids are stable sufficient to burn holes by metallic rapidly. Hydrochloric and sulfuric acids will artwork plenty speedier than acetic and ascorbic acids because of their decrease pH values consistent with reactivity of the acid because of their H-bondng properties (adverse logarithms of H-ion concentration). frequently nonetheless, the acid will provide up hydrogen atoms on the grounds that they are bonded weakly in the molecule. The metallic will p.c.. up the hydrogen atoms, which reasons a breakdown in the molecular matrix, for that reason ensuing in the metallic being "eaten" or "burned" away by acid.
