Wow! I read this question, because my son actually asked me it about six months ago and I think I said something like, finish your breakfast hon, you're going to be late to school. Now I know the answer, exposure to air.
Thanks all!

Super glue is a cyanoacrylate that requires hydroxyl ions found in water. Most surfaces have some form of water or moisture allowing the super glue to cure. The tube that contains super gllue is impervious to water.

No moisture present to cause it to polymerise/set/harden. Generally, cyanoacrylate is an acrylic resin which rapidly polymerises in the presence of water (specifically hydroxide ions), forming long, strong chains, joining the bonded surfaces together. Because the presence of moisture causes the glue to set, exposure to moisture in the air can cause a tube or bottle of glue to become unusable over time. To prevent an opened container of glue from setting before use, it must be stored in an airtight jar or bottle with a package of silica gel.

Super glue becomes sticky when exposed to moisture in the air. It contains a chemical called cyanoacrylate, which reacts with water and hardens. So, when in the tube it stays a liquid.

All glues want chemical reactions ("curing") to ensue formerly something sticks to something. i should be incorrect yet i think of it needs moisture to scientific care. there is lots of that for the time of the air, the breath of the glue-applier, and the surfaces being glued. yet there is none in the tube. till the tube is previous and almost empty, then air gets drawn in, and the superglue isn't lots relaxing any extra.

Because the tube is made from some type of super non-stick alien material, possibly recovered from the crash in Roswell.
Noone could find a better use.

It has not been exposed to the air. Exposure causes the glue to harden.
