Don't try making friends in a group cause tonly end up as aquittances. Single someone out of the group to chat with but first love yourselfand it would radiate to others.

you need to find yourself a hobbie that will allow you to meet others. For example I recently joined Learn Direct and went to the center every week, I have now made 2 good friends and we always chat online and arange to meet up for coffee and dinner before we go study. Not only that but there actually doing the same cause as me so I have some help aswell. Its just about talking to people and not being scared of rejection.

a great way to meet new people is to take up something like a dance class, then not only will it be a fun time but you'll get to know the people your learning alongside better. (if dance isnt your thing maybe take up a craft or a new language, theres a range of evening classes on offer)

I wreckon I have the same problem in approaching people. What you need is a sense of belonging. So joining some sort of group/club/society will definatly help. E.g. Bingo, gym, dance class! etc etc

Get a job in a pub/bar for while, get to know the regulars and get paid while your doing yur research. You'll probably get invited to join in one or more groups, parties too maybe. Quit the job when you can't face it anymore & keep the friends. Always have an interesting coctail to suggest if asked 'what do you suggest'. ooh and one more thing .... when asked 'would you like one?' (i.e. a drink ...... don't say 'bottle of wine please!!' ;-)

How to make friends!

Believe it or not....... You can make more friends in a shorter time by becoming interested in other people
rather than trying to get other people interested in you.

Sit back and think about it! Why should people be interested in you, unless you are first interested in them?

If at all take up a hobby where there are lots of people. Art and craft guilds are great for meeting people. There are lots of women taking up artistic metalworking for example. Or take up a martial art, as it helps you get in shape and exposes you to lots of people.

What about joining some evening classes? It's easy to meet people with common interests then.
