Yes is true, We have been living in the US, for sometime now ( we are from Puerto Rico originally) and my mother, has literary driven me crazy, of how many people she has seen, that look like people she has know over the years. Including one that looked like her old dance teacher, way back when she was ten. Also when I was a senior in college here in the US, friends of mine, always told me that I had a look alike. I didn't believed them(they were always joking around) until a teacher stop me to ask, why I have not gone to her class for the past week. I never had her for a teacher so I was like huh?, I and I told her so and she became angry with me. A few days later, she was saying how sorry she was that she confused me with another girl that looked almost like me. In the end, I never got to look at my look alike I was far to busy (it was my last few weeks before graduation) In the end I will tell you again yes indeed we all have our doubles somewhere in the world :)

I have had instances twice with this. Once, in the late seventies at university, on campus someone would be calling a name, and it wasn't mine, but they meant me. Turns out someone on my residence floor was from the same city as this other girl, and had the school's high school yearbook. It totally freaked me out how much we looked alike - we could have just exchanged our photos and no one would have known.
Many years later, I was working at a government facility, and someone came up to me to shake my hand, asked how I was and that he hadn't seen me for so long, etc. Had no clue who the dude was, and he thought I was the warden of a penetentiary up north. Explained who I was - a teacher in on a temporary basis at this facility -he was embarassed but told me how exactly I looked like this woman. It was so strange.
Now that I think of this, it is totally possible that this other person is the same woman - she could surely have gone on to do that job after high school, and the age would have fit. That would be kind of cool. With a 15 year or so time lag between these two instances, it would be interesting to know if we aged similarly as well. What would be weirder if these were actually two different women who looked so much like me. Now, let me say I'm no model, am overweight, caucasian, Ethnic background, so I don't look "average" or have a face that looks "common".
So I would say that of course you could have a double, or maybe more. This has got me thinking much more about all of this. I should have written down the name of that girl from the yearbook all those years ago....

I do believe that. It should also be able to be proved mathematically, since there is a given finite amount of DNA combinations and human characteristics, reaching a specific population we would exceed the individual forms, and would therefore have the appearance of doubles or even triples and more as the population increases. Taking into account that the gene pools vary according to the different regions of the planet, (e.g. skin pigmentation, prevalent eye colour, av. height, slitted eyes) you might expect your doubles to live in the general area where your anthropologic type congregates (eg asia pacific for asian type people)

In my case it is true. Long time ago I traveled to Italy on vacations, in the hotel elevator there was this lady who started padding my cheecks.... I realized something weird was going on. She was shocked when I told her I was not the person she though I was.
She took me to her niece's house and there I was, looking at my self!! It was the weirdest thing ever happend to me. My emotions were so undescriptable. First I thought: one of my parents have had too much fun..... But then after the shock was gone I realized that: SOMEWHERE IN THE WORLD I HAD MY DOUBLE!!!!

I know that that is true. I actually went to school with my double. Our only differences were age and name. She was a year older. We even had the same gap between our teeth and our hair was slightly different shades. It was scary and we were often confused with each other even by her parents. Not mine, mom knew me from everyone like I had a gps chip in my forhead.

False, I dont think that we are created double...it might be just a mythical thing purported by those sophists during the greek era. But I would like to believe that I am created for the sole purpose that God intended for me to be and no one else is the exact same replica of myself...

As for soulmates, its up to you to be the perfect soulmate for the one you love!

I am always being told that I look like someone else. I don't think I have a double but multiples. In the last week alone I was approached 5 times about being someone else.

Not Just double there will be seven persons like you. In my own life it has happened. My children one day told me that they ran to a person who appeared exactly like me and on nearing they found him to another person .From that day they use to call him as daddy's double. Once a shop keeper addressed me as his close friend. I was perplexed and he looked at me for half a minute and said sorry I was Mistook you for my Friend.
You may read the book "I was Montgomery's double"
It is bout a army officer who used to look exactly like Genl Montgomery of British Army. He was asked to work as duplicate for the general in order to fool Hitlers spies.

I may actually have 4 or 5! :-)
> When I moved to Los Angeles when I was 17, within a few months, people I knew kept telling me they saw me in places I hadn't yet seen! This continued for a few years. It finally stopped when I left Los Angeles.
> Maybe some mad scientist in LA was cloning me from a DNA sample he harvested from me at the LA airport when I'd arrived!?!! :-)
