Actually it depends upon your definition of singing. If it can be considered singing without lyrics and with a sequence of no more than three notes, I daresay that it would be the first being that even remotely could be classified as a person. With this simple definition, many animals 'sing'. I've heard them and actually sung with some. One of the high points of my life was singing a duet with an African gray parrot!
