Theoretically yes, but due to implementation no.

There is no theoretical reason why the MFT must reside on the same physical device.

However, due to the way that NTFS is implemented it is not possible to separate this.

If you want to get more from the disks suggest you look at creating a volume set or think about setting up RAID 0 but neither of these will specifically address your problem.

If you are referring to the Master Boot Record, this must remain on the disk drive, or you cannot boot any operating system.

If you are referring to the drive formatting (FAT32 or NTFS), you still can't move this as the formatting determines how information is stored on a disk, and if moved; the operating system will have no idea of what to look for.
Think of an English oriented three month old trying to fluently read and make sense of Chinese.

I believe that unless you want to boot from a CD, the MFT has to be on the C: drive.
