That's quite a leading line. Being nice doesn't put bread on the table. Well then okay.
Whether or not you speak negative about someone really doesn't determine your social standing. If you don't want to be ignored then make yourself heard. Get out there and speak up, and get recognized!!!!

You are being ignored because you are not speaking up. You don't have to be mean or bad to be heard.
