selfish i cann`t go with that because being selfish can be associated with self-centered persons there for young people nowadays i don`t think they are selfish in that we can take advantage of the cyber space and share information all over the globe like now you are going to have different opinions from young people all over the world and you call that selfish? No my friend i don`t think so and check out world wide organizations you will find young people sharing whatever they have or know with others from different countries of the world it may be
1.projects
2.conferences
3.social problems
4 and many things that affect our lives including scholarships,careers and basic education.

Actually, the unwed mother rate is down. And the amount of community volunteerism is way up (search a few sites for Community Service, or Community Service Learning)
For every anecdote someone can tell about a bad kid, I can tell one about a good kid. Or about a bad kid many years ago. People have not gotten either more selfish or less selfish.
This is kind of a silly question for you to have to write about, because after all,you werent alive a long time ago, so how do you know what things were like then? But you might take a look and see how many people were hanged or executed in the old days and use that as an example of how bad things were....

no. i think the parents are just blaming alot of the worlds issues on the younger generation when really its their fault. For example the obesity issue and the laziness are because of things they have invented and the way they have raised their children so if young people ARE in fact more selfish maybe the adults should be self examing themselves and what they are teaching us.

It is he time of materialism and one have the worth of the sources they have and every one has the same. usa has the more sources in the world so there youth are more agressive more greedy to grab the world and so all os us are following the same theme.before girls like the good looking guys to mary now a days power states wealth is the states.

I guess selfish is the same as self-centered?
With parents getting busier and less parenting & discipline actions, and with those compensation of money and gifts with love & care. Kids are indeed living in their own world, imaginging they rule everyone else world, thus causing them to behave in such ways.
What can we say? The world is moving too fast for us to slow them and review our own actions.

Yes i think they are. for example, i live in a small town and this morning on the news a girl and her boyfriend killed the girls mother and stole her van. i think that teen volunteering is down from the 60's and 70's. the unwed mother rate is up...all of this is for selfish "right now" kind of thinking

i wouldn't say they are becoming more and more selfish
they are becoming more competitive and intolerant also
