My PC is quite old. am just upgrading it from time to time.
Now, my current hardware are:
PC Power supply- 300w
1.8ghz P4 processor
Asus board P4S533
512DDR ram
128mb Nvidia fx5200
320 gb Hard disk
combo drive cd writer
1.44 floppy drive
56kbps internal modem
2 chassis fan
15" AOC monitor
Standard keyboard and optical mouse

Is there a need to upgrade my power supply?

That is plenty of power for that system. Of course if your power supply is getting old, you might wanna replace it eventually anyway, they age just like any other part.

Not to give a 'smartie' answer... but if it all runs with that power supply, then NO, you don't need to upgrade it.

I think that the only way to know for sure is to look at each component and see what the power requirements are. Seems that the newer graphics cards eat a lot of power.

That power supply should be fine. If it isn't enough power, the computer won't work. I'm not a expert on this, but i'm guessing that theres some sort of breaker in the power supply that will trip if too much power is going through it.
