The following is my views. It is 805 words. You can use my general thoughts if you wish and put them into your own words by summarizing the general idea.

This is direct reflection on character. The intelligent person learns from their mistakes and prevents them from reoccurring. The wise person, learns from others mistakes and is further ahead of the game because they avoid mistakes that others have already made. In todays world the newer genberational thinking is if it feels good then do it. This is a dangerous mind set, not only for themselves but also for the future of out world. Society is merely the people as a whole. If we can educate people & motivate people to learn we have it made. The problem is that many people cannot be taught. They are stubborn and refuse to see things from their elders or from more intelligent people. So we end up with a bunch of people living like animals. They are so focused on the tree that they cannot see the forest is being destroyed, so to speak. They see the here and now and do not care or realize the effects of their ignorance. There are many intelligent people who are willing to make positive change. The problem is there is always resistance from those who do not want the change. That essentially is what politics is all about. One party has a vision or goal for the future of the country and they make small goals to achieve the large goal. Then there are people who have different goals for the coutry and they do not want to cooperate with the ones in charge. Republicans are for the rich. Democrats are for the poor and the working class. So on and so forth. If you are wealthy, chances are that you don't care about the working mans issues or goals. On the same token, if you are in the working class, you will not have the same vision or goals as do the rich. Some people are foolish and think they are republicans because they want to look welthy, upper class etc but really they are biting their oown hand off by promoting politicians who has the goal to destroy the hard working man, the poor man and the elderly & children progams. We need more togetherness. We need to get rid of the political parties which obviously do not work. They divide people and not unite people. We need to come to terms that all people have value. We need to quit opposing each other and start trying to do good for all mankind. Everyone needs to get rid of their selfish attitudes and care about the next guy...then we can learn from our mistakes and take a higher road.
USA is the melting pot of the world. That is great. We all have great things to offer and we can all learn from each other if we work together. We need to see each others strengths and build on them, we must also identify our weaknessess and change them. What if you went into your kitchen and took every seasoning and spice off the shelf and dumped them all into a pot of boiling stew? What would happen if you were just aimlessly using no rgard to the outcome? However, each one of those seasonings and spices have great effect if used to bring out the very best of each of them in their own way.Sugar is the opposite os salt, but that does not mean that they are not both needed and useful. People are like the seasonings and spices of the melting pot of this country. We all have unique and distinct qualities and sttributes. We could all be successful and useful for everyone if used in the right way. How we learn from the mistakes, is by trail and error or by experience. First we have to come together and decide what we are trying to make of this melting pot (USA). This is the pot of stew. Then we need to decide what it takes to get there. Then we can all enhance the stew by our tasteful qualities. There will never be a chance of pleasing all of the people all of the time. However, the country needs to have a goal as a country and anyone who does not share that goal can go down the road and find a place they like the goals. If they do not like the melting pot stew of the USA try the burritos of Mexico or the rice dish of China etc. Somewhere, at some time we need to come together as a people and start cooking the melting pot stew.....or we end up with a pot of unbarrable combinations that goes to waste and serves no purpose....like the pot of all the spices and all the seasonings just trying to jump in but not consider their use and when to be of use.

As long as the world keeps spinning on its axes, history will undoubtedly continue to repeat itself. My idea for you is stick with what you know, and if you decide to stick with history, use a&e.com, the history chanel.com, and maybe some of the past interviews from cnn, fox news.com, time life magazine.com or national geographic.com, if it so pleases your report. Good Luck!

300 words isn't a lot. You could apply it to the war in Iraq or the conflict in the middle east very easily.
