It is a secretarial job for the Parks and Recreation of the City i live in. It is a city job, perhaps that 's why i would have to be bonded.

It's an insurance policy that you won't be likely to steal etc. If somthing goes wrong be it your fault or someobne else's the company gets reinbursed from the insurance company.

Like all insurances anyone can buy it - being bondable means no criminal record in that it is cost effective to bond you.

For instance Charles Manson could go and insist on being bonded and legally the insurance company would have to take him on - However for an insurance company to take him on they would only need a million dollars a month to insure him .

Where you who once had an unpaid jay walking ticket in the 70' would cost closer to a dollar a day .....Get it ?

The insurance company rates the odds against you commiting a crime while employed by that company - the higher the risk you pose the higher the dollar value you are

Basically it means being insured on the job you do, insured so that problems that come up will not reflect on the customers. Not sure why a secretary would need to be bonded but I know like a tow-truck operator must be bonded so that if he wrecks with car in tow, his insurance will pay for the damages to the car, too.
You have to pass whatever background check the insurance provider has.

It means that you are insurable. An insurance company will bond you. If you get sued for screwing something up, the money comes from the insurance company that has bonded you. So you need to have a clean background basically.
