No. That is completely wrong to tell someone you love them and to not mean it. I can understand someone not wanting to hurt another person but I believe that honesty is the best policy. It would hurt a whole lot more a year down the road when that person finds out that the other never loved them anyway.

Oh, it was the other way...
Did not have courage to spell out that I did love that person.
It was more of shyness and a little bit of fear, of that piercing glance if that person even expresses just a surprise !
But still there is a very strong love !
