Is it ancient or modern? What do you think it was used for and by whom? Do you think it's coincidence or not that there are similar formations elsewhere in the world?

Stonehenge is ancient and was built by the ancient (Welsh) Druids. The Druids were the learned priestly class and were deeply spiritual. "The Druids linked the Celtic peoples with their numerous gods, the lunar calendar and the sacred natural order." Stonehenge marked the time of the spring and fall Equinox, and winter and summer Solstice. The Druid priests conducted religious ceremonies there.

Similar formations were built by ancient tribal peoples in Mexico or South America, and were used for the same purpose.

Ancient peoples were far more observant of the skies as they did not have distractions like big city lights, television, the internet, factories and clocks.

Ancient. It is the work of the Druids and plays as astronomical or calendrical role in the stones' placement. Having similar formations may be just a coincidence, yet at the same time, it can also be of Stonehenge replicas - man made.

How old do you mean by ancient? I think it's a couple thousand years old according to dating. Probably used by the druids. It was probably a ritual site. It's not coincidence, people built it.

Human beings are the greatest builders ever known in history. It's not coincidence that such things were also invented elsewhere.

No one seems to know who were the real creator of Stonehenge. They can tell people what they think that is was used for and somethings about the type of people who may have used it. But the truth about Stonehenge was just lost in time. There are many different groups of people that want their people to take all the credit for its existence. And their are many stories about what they may think, But in truth there is no one here at this time period that can prove a thing about the real truth of Stonehenge............. And it will remain a mystery until someone can create a lie that is good enough for everyone to believe.

Stonehenge is ancient. It was used by Druids. Some theorize that it was actually an observatory judging by the relationship of the sun to the various stones. We will never know for certain how and why it was built as there are no written records concerning it.

Very ancient. I think (until other evidence comes to light) that it had something to do with the solstices and such. No, it's not coincidence there are other such formations. "Henge" means circle, and there are other circular constructions in the British Isles, whether they be stone, earth, wood, etc. But it wasn't originally built by Druids (they came MUCH later), although they worship there today.
Don't go solely by what you read in textbooks; they don't give complete information for lack of space and they're usually out of date anyways in a year or two.

Scientifically proven that it is ancient. I think it is a bunch of rocks people put together to match the sun. I have never heard of similar formations.
