I was having contractions, and my doctor gave me betamethasone injections to help develop the baby's lungs as a precaution. I was very hesitant to do this without knowing exactly how it would affect my baby. But he and the OB nurse assured me it wouldn't hurt my baby.

As I'm looking online for this, I see a lot of information that says the long-term effects to an unborn child are unknown. Now I'm even more worried.

Has anyone had this? And does anyone know how long the injections have been used for possible preterm labor?

I had the steroid injection with 2 out of my 3 pregnancies that came to term. And I have not seen any affects except that their lungs were ready rather then being behind at birth which was preterm for both. Good luck with the baby. Those injections just give it a better chance with the breathing anf lungs working if they decided to be stubborn and come before the expected due date.
