Is it against the law in NY to have a decorative plate cover around you liscense plate?

only if it covers the numbers and letters, state name, or expiration date of your plate! My mom had one covering the expiration date and she got pulled over... she was 3 months late on renewing it!

i live in nj and i know as long as the plate doesnt cover up the state name you can have it on your car
