No.
1. There is no proof they have nukes. The seismic shock was not indicative of a nuclear weapon, unless it was less than a megaton.
2. China will not let NK threaten the US, Japan or themselves. If they are uneasy about NK they will attack and take it over. It will be a two hour war.
But a caveat: the US is always at threat for a terrorist attack. Just because NK has (or doesn't have) nukes changes that issue. Any country that uses nukes will become and international pariah.

North Korea is not a physical threat to the US. But they are a threat to the economy of the US. I say this because its very, very unlikely that they would be able to hit the Western US anytime soon with a nuke. But the possibility of them hitting Tokyo with a nuke (and they do hate the Japanese) is significantly higher. If if they wiped out Tokyo, that would bring the world economy crashing down, and the US would go right with it. Not to mention the huge loss of life in Japan, and then in North Korea as we would wipe them off the map with nukes shortly thereafter.
From a terrorist perspective, the biggest danger is the North Koreans selling the technology to a terrorist country or group. They are a poor nation, and have had no problems in the past, selling their technology to whomever can pay for it. Im sure they would be more than willing to do this again.

Sadly it is a threat. If North Korea developes enough successful nuclear weapons than they could not only launch them at the United States but also sell them to terrorist. Who have no problem harming Americans. If North Korea did hit us with a nuclear weapon we would probably have to start the draft again because we would not have enough troops to fight in Afganistan, Iraq, and North Korea at the same time.

N. Korea may give or sell weapons to terrorists to "stick it to freedom", but the biggest threat at this time is an attack on Japan or South Korea, who are allys of America.

From 1996 to 2004, the USA was the single largest donor of food aid (in excess of 2 million metric tons). Despite this thousands are dying of starvation.
So, Kim Jong Il must be ready for ready for apolocypse (for NK) if he attacks the USA. But simply having nuclear warheads (if he actually does) - doesn't mean he has the ballistic deliivery vehicle to reach the USA. More likely he'd attack South Korea or another local neighbour chosen at random.

Yes! Think about the sanctions. Are they worth pursuing? China is determined not to allow the regime to fail, so sanctions will just make Kim Jong more ill tempered (scuse the pun)
His people will suffer while he lives a life of luxury, completely removed from the harsh daily reality those poor deluded suckers have to endure.
Sanctions will just alienate him even more from the nations who oppose him, and make him more desperate for money and consequently more likely to deal with Islamic terrorists with large check books.
What do you think he has that they want?
He will be a huge threat to the U.S in this way!
Bush needs to go to Pyongyang in person, sit down with the man and talk to him as a statesman! Not sit up in the white house making ridiculous statements about how visceral his reaction is.
He is not helping anyone, by showing off his Texan swagger.
Which is better when dealing with an unstable megalomaniac, throw rocks and insults, or take him under your wing and calm him the f**k down??

No, North Korea is not a serious threat, yet.
But Democrats are ready to surrender, again.
That encourage terrorist' attacks from elsewhere.

They are a threat to their region, South Korea, Japan. But as of yet, they do not have the means to harm us. All the same, we should bomb the living hell out of them.
