1+1= 42, thats easy cause 42 is the answer to the ultimate question and since the question is actually not remembered, 1+1 may have significant enough repercussions to consider it as the ultimate question.
1+1+11 is i guess when you take one of something, another one and then 11 and add them to getether. A perfect example is 13 which is actually the result of 1+1+11. Another example to that is 53, which is 1+1=42+11, while another example is 42, since 1+1+11 might be the question to the answer.
Update: Having seen the update as 1+1=11, then the answer is quite complicated, since it either implies a double switching system, if switch a is 1 and switch b is 1 then 1+1=11 or it is 1*5.5 +1*5.5, referring to standard 5.5 quantities which therefore are ommited, it would be 1*5.5+1*5.5=11.

The above operations are accomplished by missing an operator in the right hand side.
Thus:
In case of first operation,
1+ 1 = 42 would imply 1+ 1 = 4-2, which is indeed true
In case of second operation:
1+ 1 = 11 would imply 1+1 = 1 + 1, which is indeed true.
