The No Child Left Behind act has been one of the biggest failures of this administration. You make a good point concerning students that might be gifted in the trade fields. A lot of other children are also being left behind because this act requires a curriculum that teaches to the tests but does not mandate where the schools are supposed to get the money. Another unfunded federal mandate from Bush. He sure uses it for PR points though.

Are you seriously expecting intelligence or competence from the government? From the school faculties and administrations to the state school boards to the federal government, there is nothing but negligence, incompetence, corruption and bureaucratic inertia.

But you mewling complaint about standardized tests is wrong. It doesn't mean they're stupid, it means they are not academically or scholastically inclined, or are not suited for those pursuits.

Standardized testing is used worldwide. In some countries, you have to pass one each year to move on. In France, you have to pass one to be eligible for university.

There really is no way to measure huge numbers of people using anything other than a standardized test. And if people cannot do well on a standardized test, especially for tests that have basic stuff you should know, then maybe you are wasting important classroom space when you should be doing an apprenticeship.

Here's an idea: instead of whining about it, why don't you devise some test that is hand crafted for each person, yet is comparable to each other when given to millions of people at the same time.

Hmmm...Is your question concerning the federal regulation, or the thought of inclusion? enable's talk approximately particular education scholars first, however you would be speaking approximately English Language inexperienced persons. Your question is exceedingly imprecise. each and every pupil especially ed has an Individualized academic software (IEP) and the IEP ought to specificy the Least Restrictive surroundings for that pupil. For some scholars, the Least Restrictive surroundings is the final ed lecture room, for others it is not. Inclusion is critical for babies working their way out of particular ed. It additionally provides you a placing for usual ed young ones to have interplay with particular needs young ones the place the instructor instruments a favorable tone. whilst i replaced into going to college, they mentioned as the source room "the container", and interplay between the populations replaced into in the bogs, in the hallway, on the bus, in the cafeteria, or the locker room. interplay replaced into extra alongside the lines of teasing, bullying, and harrassment. If inclusion is a disaster for a undeniable pupil, you ought to a) carry together documents that shows why inclusion is a disaster for that pupil (anecdotal information, case in point) and b) talk the case with the pupil's care coordinator. then you will in all possibility ought to attend an IEP assembly and clarify to the team (such using fact the mothers and fathers) why inclusion isn't working for this pupil. The team will with a bit of luck the two provide you some suggestions for making it artwork, or will revisit the Least Restrictive surroundings. i've got considered scholars moved right into a pullout lecture room, sent to a undeniable college, sent to a residential foster domicile, and counseled for community based residential care. i've got additionally considered scholars moved into usual education training or moved out of particular education altogether. there is somewhat some place of work work in touch, yet once you have the practise to tutor the exchange is suited, it could in many cases be achieved. No newborn Left in the back of is a series of thoroughly diverse subjects. Inclusion would or won't be superb prepare, based on the purposes of the newborn. No newborn Left in the back of is political interference it particularly is very generally opposite to superb practices.

Um... last I remember... school kids are being taught reading, writing, math etc..... they are not taking carpentry classes in 3rd grade...

Testing is how you judge retention of information.... what do libs think they should be judged on instead?? How they FEEL about their education???

The system is not perfect (N.C.L.B.)... I think progress and change to it must happen... but it is better than what we had.....
