it's a bottle, but the nipple's hole is a little bigger so rice cereal can go through it more easily.

Just look on the label of nipples. The Stage 2 nipples by Playtex which is 3-6 months allow some to come out, depending on how much cereal you are putting in. My daughter is 6 weeks old, and is having to have cereal in her bottles due to reflux, so this is what I bought and it works just fine. If your baby is older, Playtex also has a Stage 3 nipple. (In each stage the nipple hole get bigger) Hope this helps. If these don't work, just make a tiny "X" in the nipple, it will work just fine.

Baby Cereal Feeder

Even if they still make those things, I strongly recommend that you don't use it.

Cereal is chunky. And if it comes from a bottle, baby will suck on it like he does milk. Gulps. Baby can choke. I was always warned not to use these types of bottles, and I never did.

Signs of readiness for cereal - baby sits up supported (can hold head up by himself though). Has doubled birth weight. Continues to be hungry after 8-10 feedings, over drinks over 32 oz in a day. Baby will also be able to "eat" the food, and swallow it.

I know I have seen them, but I couldnt remember where, either. I think our local grocery store had it, actually.

But in any case, what I did was make the hole bigger myself in one of the nipples in our bottles (took a couple tries to get the right size, not too small and not too big), and then marked it so that I knew it was the one to be used only when putting cereal in the bottle.

Good luck on your search.

I used a regular Gerber baby bottle and they sell the nipples seperately. The nipples have an X cut in them as opposed to a small pin hole.

Does your child have reflux or something that woudl require putting cereal in the bottle? Otherwise it's a really bad idea.

I would just use the regular nipple that you use and make the hole slightly bigger. But, only if its medically necessary.

I haven't been able to find one anywhere! I'm thinking this is because they encourange parents NOT to use infant feeders anymore. You are suppose to always use a spoon because it gets them use to using one.

They are much easier though and less messy then a spoon!
