Check out a band called Dream Theatre - they do both ballad and heavy stuff. No screaming - just unreal talent in every musician

There is no way in hell I could list even a fracton of them all, so I will give you some of the songs I have been listening to a lot lately:

Cult of Luna - Finland
Damageplan - Wake up
DragonForce - Operation Ground and Pound
Megadeth - Crush 'em
Megadeth - Tornado of Souls
Megadeth - Holy Wars... The Punishment Due
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Pantera - Drag The Waters
Pantera - Floods

I have been listening to these songs a lot the past few days cause I just went into town not long ago and updated my CD collection (these are all metal).

Pearl Jam, System of a Down (yes, they scream, but they have excellent harmony!), Nirvana, Classic Metallica, Incubus's "A Crow Left of the Murder" is a fantastic album. I totally agree that you should listen to Tool. Phenomenal music, lyrics, everything, every album. Henry Rollins. The Foo Fighters. The Red Hot Chili Peppers. (Okay, so these are way more to the rock side of things, but that's what I like.)

Also Damageplan is good'
And Yes, TOOL is freaking awesome, although i wouldnt consider them heavy metal. Stone Sours new album has some good stuff.

Try listening to something like My Chemical Romance or Green Day... They are rock bands, mostly punk rock, but they dont scream and get really annoying and you can actually understand what the heck they are saying. Green Day' music has changed my life.
