It depends on the type of paint on the tub; I would call some professional painters and ask for a bid and explanation of what method they would use. Sandblasting may be the only good method. There are people who specialize in the repainting of old tubs... if you have the money, that might be best. if you want to repaint the interior, you have to use an epoxy paint that has very powerful fumes.

If you look at your hardware store I am sure you can find a product, not sure what it's called, but you paint it on the surface you want the paint removed from, let it sit for just a while and it is supposed to come off pretty easily. I bought some stuff off tv called Ready Strip, that I am going to use on my piano, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I am not sure if it would work on a tub surface or not, don't know why not. Worth a look!

Most likely your tub is painted with quick dry enamel paint so the product to use is called paint stripper.

However first verify on what material the tub is made of. Your hardware store can then advise you the proper product to use.

You can use regular paint remover. The same as would use on wood. Apply it the same way and will work. For small areas, you can use Goof Off or Goo Gone. Make sure you read all precautions on the paint remover and wear gloves. It will eat the skin off your fingers.
