I don't know how accurate dollar store test can be, but a few years back I was missing my period went to my OB/Gyn and he discovered a cyst on my ovary, however, I did have slight discomfort, if you are experiencing something similar definately see your doc.

There are many things that can stop your period or delay it - stress, medications, health issues such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), hard core dieting or exercising, pregnancy and a number of other things that are not coming to mind right now. Your best bet if your concerned is to see your Dr you may need the pill to regulate your period and make sure there is nothing else going on.

Stress can cause your period to be late. I thought I was pregnant a couple of times and just worrying about it made my period start later.

I would invest in a better test tho. Who knows what kind of quality the dollar store test kit is.

Best wishes.

When I was in my final year of school, during my final exams, my periods went away for 3 months. I went to the doctor, and he said two things where responsible for it.
- The stress from my exams. You're reproductive system is the only system in you're body that can shut down, without you dying, so to use energy elsewhere, it shut down for a while.
In my case the stress of the exams was causing me to worry, and my adrenal and cortisol level was high. My body was in constant fight and flight syndrome.
-Secondly, the stress had caused me to lose weight, and when you're underweight, the reproductive system shuts down for the same reason as above. To give energy elsewhere.

Needless to say, exams ended, holidays rolled along, I became relaxed, and got my appetite back, and soon after, started getting my periods again like clockwork.
I'd suggest you go see you're doctor about this, and hear what he says.

If you have even the tiniest bit of doubt I would go to your family doctor. If you don't have one you can get a "professional" pregnancy test at Planned Parenthood. I think they might provide them for free if you can not afford to pay for one. Don't quote me on that though, I am guessing. I think you should find out for sure right away what is going on so you can still have options for yourself. And again as the other people have said, it may very well be stress. Good luck to you and God Bless.

It's normal for menstruation to fluctuate, especially around the time (as it is now) where days get noticably shorter quickly, and also when they get longer quickly (spring).
Additionally stress can push a period back a bit, and if you bothered to take two tests you've probably been stressing a good bit.
Relax and let it come. It will.

I've had the "late" anxieties before. If you took the pregnancy tests and they came back negative, relax. You could be late this month because of stress. I've been late before because I've been anxious or stressed about something in my life. But to ease your mind, take one more pregnancy test. If it doesn't come within a week and you already took a test, talk to your dr.

5 days isnt that unusual. but that was nearlly 8 weeks ago. i would do another test and if that is still negative you should go and see the doctor, if you normally have regular periods than something has got to be wrong.

5 days is nothing.

The date of periods can be affected by a lot of things, including stress, diet, sleep, sickness

When you worry about it, it can cause your period to be delayed.
You need to stop worrying (I know easier said then done), but if you are pregnant there is nothing you can do about it now.
