i haven't watched a soap opera in years, but started to watch Eastenders, while we were waiting for sky to be installed. I watch it with my daughter ,and even though it seems drivel at times, it does give me the opportunity to discuss the issues that they try and portray . so far we have discussed abortion, the effects on a family with a disabled child, the possibility of aggressive ,abusive men rehabilitating . these are issues that grownups might find boring in a soap, but do raise good issues for our kids to consider. the whole aspect of dealing with a special needs child ,from realisation to accepting was done quite quickly ,so that it did not get boring for my daughter ,yet it is invaluable what she learnt.

so even though we don't traditionally watch soaps for education , that is what we are getting and it suites me for now.

it's ok sometimes although it goes through really bad phases. The real question is, why have you posted this in Pregnancy, surely it should be in the TV section?

Assuming you mean East Enders.......low class people with no lives it would seem...........or certainly people whose lives rely on the TV in the evening for entertainment given that it is on 4 out of 5 midweek nights....if that is what you have got to look forward after a day at work then God help you.

It is so depressing as well........
