I never heard they made a public offering in Europe.

Large US companies routinely list part of their float in Europe. Sometimes it's done through Global Depositary Rights (GDR), sometimes through a secondary listing. You will be able to buy Google at 3 or 4 large European exchanges. There are a lot of rich Europeans individuals or investment managers out there who want exposure to US equity.

Why wouldn't they?

We have about 470 ADR's listed on the NYSE of foreign companies trading in the US.

This is probably not a new public offering in Europe, but rather an agreement to allow foreign citizens to trade the stock without having to set up an account in the US.

I believe its probably just an ADR.
