We are all fat smokers who abuse our bodies..What we should do is follow the example of "Two Jags" Prescot and be a picture of health and fitness.................

He's right. I'm afraid what's going to happen, though, is no one is going to listen. When healthcare becomes bankrupt because of all the unhealthy fools milking it, then government is going to step in and tell us what to eat, how much, when and what exercises to do, etc. Maybe this is a wake up call.... I doubt it.

"Personal responsibility" what this means in this context is:-
Everybody should be looking after them selves and take ownership of their 'health'. The problem with this is that even if you are perfect and live by your ideals (not religion) in the end something will infect you or injure you - so it is not in your hands. You have to live, and doctors and politicians get ill and need treatment as well. So to sum up it is a red herring that sounds good on a superficial level. In an ideal world you would not need hospitals as no one would be sick. No rubbish would be generated so you wouldn't need a wheelie bin. So he needs to GET real.

Yes, he's an expert speaker and excels at turning attention away from himself and the Government's policies. He'd prefer to blame individuals for their illnesses rather than let everyone see what he has done to the NHS. I would be amazed if anyone looked to this Government for example. Prescott certainly wouldn't be an ideal role model for anyone, either physically or morally.

His statement is correct even if his government does not lead by example. They are charged with hypocrisy, not practising what you preach though.
I smoke and i should quit, if a smoker tells me smoking is bad for you it does not make his statement less valid. But as Leaders, they should lead by example and to be fair, Tony is doing his bit to be healthy.

I don't care if the government leads by example or not. We shouldn't wait for them to tell us what to do anyway. We should take responsibility for ourselves. Otherwise we really will become a Nanny State.
